With the social activities (trust me, it's a weird feeling having a full social calendar), the recruitment activities, the preparation for the meetings, the actual meetings, your classes, your homework, your extra-curriculars, sports, etc. almost every moment of your day will be full.
I don't mean to be discouraging, though ... while it's stressful and I basically live 19 hour days, I wouldn't give up my time in AXiD for anything. Just be absolutely sure that you're willing to put in the time it takes. I'd say to go through pledging, but if you feel even the slightest inkling that your schoolwork is suffering, depledge immediately. My chapter once had a girl in a similar situation who was initiated and then decided that she just didn't have the time. Don't be like her. Deactivation is no fun at all.

I disagree. Pledging is a bigger time commitment for fraternities than being a brother is. Why? When you're a brother you don't always have to be at the house meeting guys, you don't have to clean the house up, you don't have to drive people around, etc. My advice would be that if you want to pledge to do it as soon as you can while you're taking easy classes. As you get older your classes get harder and your workload gets heavier, then you really have a hard time pledging.
