Emmys 2008

Anyone else watching it tonight? I am excited to see what happens, and I am really hoping for some much deserved curve balls. I am excited Mad Men got a lot of noms, the first season was terrific, all though the second season is not heating up so well. Although, it would be nice to see Dexter get some play (not likely). House is winning viewers votes but I think its win is highly unlikely. Critics are saying Lost is the curve ball here, but not meeh.

The comedy only has three nominees really 2.5 men doesn't really have much of a chance and I would say Entourage is not a critics favorite anymore. I dont know how these got noms over Californication, Pushing Daisies and mainly Weeds. 30 rock should take it again but it is tight between them and the Office.

John Adams should have a lock on the TV movie categories. Great Actors and not much competition. I am really hoping that Mary Louise Parker will finally get her emmy for Weeds, she really deserves it, but its unlikely since the show didn't get the comedy nom. Tina Fey and Christina Applegate are my predictions for the winner. America got her win last year, which was a little gimmicky. John Slattery and Kristen Chenoweth are also two I am pulling for. Slattery has a good chance, and Jean Smart and Amy Poehler could still it from Chenoweth. Poehler getting a nom in a support actress in a comedy for SNL was a little gimmicky (well-deserved though) and that helps her odds.

I can go on about every category but I am not getting paid to write a book. Anywho, tonight should be interesting.

I saw that they were on tonight and thought to myself "This will be interesting since last season's TV totally stunk due to the writer's strike"

I love the political jabs... esp. Laura Liney's... and offbeat from that, Conan's Heigel joke... the organization is horrible, but this isn't a bad emmys. Josh Grobin, awesome!

I'm surprised that I've been watching since 8, and I had no idea it was the 60th anniversary. I loved Josh Grobin's performance. I was singing with him but couldn't whistle for Andy Griffith. The opening was awful. All of the political references make me happy. Tommy Smothers might be the man of the night for me for his comments. I'm impressed that the Academy gave him an award 40 years later. I always love the montages for the entertainers we lost.

That would be "YAY Jean Smart... Tv Legend! , Alpha Delta Pi, and honeychile was born on her birthday!"

Seriously, I loved her long before I found out the above.
