As difficult as it was, I'm glad you stuck it out. These groups liked you and you are able to see and get to know them better. I look forward to your next post

Round Three - Philanthropy/House Tours
When I arrived at my meeting place, I was very happy to see that all four chapters from the previous day had asked me back for Philanthropy Day. Since the end of the last round, I began to think about which of my choices I would be happy with. I liked Clydesdale the most and thought that it would provide me with opportunities for leadership. I also liked Selle Francais, but not as much as Clydesdale. Hanoverian and Westphalian were definitely my bottom two choices because I just didn’t click with those girls as well as I would have liked. Ironically enough, my schedule was listed in my order of preference.
Clydesdale
Selle Francais
Hanoverian
Westphalian
Clydesdale- We were led in and we watched a video about their philanthropy. Then we made a cute little craft for it. After this, I was taken on a house tour. The house was absolutely gorgeous inside; everything was brand new. I spoke with a girl that I was paired with in a previous round, and it was good to talk to her again. I really enjoyed every part of this round, and I decided that if I was invited back for Preference, this would be my first choice.
Selle Francais- This round went very well. I spoke with two girls about the most random things. It was very nice and I felt comfortable there. The house was beautiful and had a very nice sun porch. I mentally ranked this house second on my list.
Hanoverian- I felt so bad at this house because I suddenly got very tired and could not stop yawning. It wasn’t because I was bored; in fact, I thought that the conversations we were having were quite interesting. The girls I talked to here were very nice and their house was beautiful as well, but I just didn’t feel like I belonged here.
Westphalian- I don’t know what I keep doing right to keep being asked back, but once again I just felt awkward here. I feel like my personality would clash with many of the girls in this house. They were extremely nice and I could tell that they loved their sorority, but I just wasn’t feeling a connection here. I placed this house at the bottom of my list yet again.
Ranking After Round Three:
Top 3
- Clydesdale
- Selle Francais
- Hanoverian
Bottom 2 (Ranked)
1. Westphalian
2.
The next installment of the story will be posted soon!! Thanks again for your patience

A Happy Ending...
Well, I have some good news to share with ya'll... I received a call this afternoon from the recruitment chair of a sorority asking me if I would be interested in joining because they just had a spot open up and had gotten my name from the Greek Life Office. So, thanks to COB, I accepted and attended my first new member meeting tonight. I am now a new member of.....
PHI MU!!!!!
(also known as Clydesdale in my story)
I was so happy to hear this news and immediately told my friends down the hall who were equally (if not more) excited This all happened so suddenly, but I am extremely grateful that I now have a happy ending to my story.
Thanks to everyone for your support throughout this whole process. I really appreciate the advice and encouragement you have given me!

Round Four - Preference Night
I put on my favorite dress and headed over to our meeting spot to receive my schedule for the evening. However, when I got there I was disappointed to see that two of my top 3 choices had dropped me that night, including my favorite, Clydesdale. I was pretty upset at this since I had begun researching this particular chapter anticipating that I would make it back for Preference Night. However, I still had Selle Francais and once again, Westphalian had been brought back from the bottom of my list. Since I only had two rounds, I finished an hour early and planned to use that time to consult with my Rho Chi.
Selle Francais- As we lined up in alphabetical order, I saw a few members of Selle Francais walk to various areas of the front yard to place cards, flowers, desserts and champagne glasses of sparkling cider. When my name was called, I was very happy to see a girl that I had clicked with so well in a previous round. She was so sweet, and while she was talking to me, I started to feel like I might be able to fit in here. The card that I received had several messages from girls that I had spoken with throughout rush, and I really liked how personalized each one was. It made me happy to see that these girls had remembered little things about our conversations and details about me as well. The ceremony was very nice and I started to get a little teary eyed when I heard some of the stories. I made it clear that I really liked this group and the girl I was with kept telling me how much they wanted me to be there.
Westphalian- This house was so far away from Selle Francais that I practically had to run there to make it on time. I got there as they were calling girls in and had just enough time to change my shoes and get in line. (Thank goodness my last name is towards the end of the alphabet!) I was led in by a girl that I had spoken to at the first round. She showed me her scrapbook while I ate some delicious dessert. It was very cute and it seemed like these girls had fun with each other. However, I still did not feel like I belonged here. The ceremony was very nice, and I was led out after its conclusion. After leaving here, I had decided that I just couldn’t put them on my preference card. I never felt comfortable here and I didn’t think it would be a good match for me, personally.
I headed over to the very gorgeous Carolina Inn to find my Rho Chi before filling out my preference card. I had become very comfortable speaking with her throughout the whole process and felt like she could help consult me with my situation. I was torn, but not between the two chapters I had left. I just wasn’t sure if I wanted to give Selle Francais a chance or if I wanted to drop out altogether. I had eliminated the possibility of joining Westphalian because I just never felt comfortable there. Despite warnings I had read on GC and had heard from my Rho Chi, I either wanted to suicide Selle Francais or not sign a preference card at all. My Rho Chi asked me my feelings about each chapter, and she told me about how someone she knew had been in a similar situation before (rushed as a sophomore, left with only two choices, neither of which she liked that much). She said that this girl had decided to give it a try and put both houses down on her card. She ended up at her number one choice out of these two and grew to love it over the next few years. She also said that I had nothing to lose by doing this. If I ended up going through bid day and part of the new member period and I didn’t like it, I could always drop out before initiation. This started to make sense to me and she led me inside to fill out my card. She warned me that there could be a possibility that I would not get a bid if I only wrote down Selle Francais, but I understood the consequences and I just couldn’t present myself with the possibility of receiving a bid from Westphalian when I knew that my heart wasn't in it.
Preference Card
1. Selle Francais
2.
3.
Stay tuned for Bid Day!! Coming soon!
