Re: Ownership?
Appreciate the knowledge, I couldn't have said it better myself.

The Island Def Jam of Universal Vinvendi (?) owns 50% (possibly more since they put ALOT into the company)...
Damon Dash, Jay-Z and Kareem (?) Briggs collectively own the other 50%... the question is how do we know that they own the other half equally? For all you know, Jay-Z may own less than 16.666% of Roc-A-Fella and if that is the case, he wouldn't be making any more money being the co-owner of the company ANYWAY. My arguement is that if Nas owns Ill Will Records outright, then Jay-Z must sell a whole lot of records to even MATCH what Nas will make on selling 500,000 (gold). Ownership is in the masters and my bet is that Damon n dem (like Suge when he first started out) does not have a firm grip on them either. I know that Nas doesn't own his, but then again, he's never made that claim either.
In this industry, producers like Timbaland and Neptunes can take up to 4% (and sometimes more, you would be surprised) of an album's earnings. So when you think about how much producers (cause that's ALWAYS been what has made Jay-Z hot, not his lyrics) take out of the albums, it won't matter how much Jay-Z owns of Roc-A-Fella Records because when it's all over with, he could probably end of owing money on records. That's usually what happens.
So as far as Jay-Z owning his own company, the question is does he really. Just because HE says he does doesn't make it so. Remember, you can be paid/pimped to say anything.
Now if he was a model for his clothing line, then yeah... wait, no he can't say that either.
Like Cedric the Entertainer and so many have said before, how does one be the best rapper dissing women? The truth is in a battle between men, one should not bring a woman in it NEWAY (whether Jay-Z banged Nas' baby momma doesn't matter in this case). You shouldn't have to bring other folks into your battles and when you take away the beat from "Ether" (which WE ALL KNOW Nas could have did better) Nas still punk Jay-Z where it really matters, true lyrical skills. Nas has rapped on many subjects over the years and whether or not he has sold a lot of records doesn't matter either. Almost every song Jay-Z has ever rapped about (with the exception of Hard Knock Life and maybe one or two others) has been about dissing women or having sex with women or talking about women.
The truth of the matter is NAS dissed JAY-Z...
JAY-Z dissed everyone around NAS and NAS indirectly.
I'll say more later but I got some work to do.
