Sorry, DaemonSeid. I'm hijacking this thread for a minute because I couldn't decide where to post this.
I'm watching the DNC coverage on MSNBC. Did anyone see the veteran that was on a few minutes ago? She said that Obama got 6x more funding than McCain from the Iraq troops/families.

This article is almost a month old, but references some numbers similar to those you're stating:
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...e.45d1e81.html
I can't imagine that it would be 6x the donations, as that would be a HUGE amount. I could see if Obama had a donation advantage, though.

It seems odd. That article says that McCain is favored over Obama by veterans in the polls (49% to 32%) but Obama is doing better than McCain in the cash department. Anyway, are the troops sending us a message? (OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA )

Haha...I'm not sure if I would go that far. It could be that the wealthier veterans are supporting Obama, or that those just returned from overseas support McCain and just aren't able to send donations. There could be a lot of reasosn for the difference between polling support and financial support.

Ksigkid is exactly on the right track as for why this is still a specious claim at best until some stats are given - additionally, the split may very well be 6,000 to 1,000, which would fail any significance test you can imagine except for the "can we spin this at the convention?" test (which it clearly passed).
If the edge were that significant, I guarantee this would not be the first time we've heard of it, and it would be plastered on every Obama commercial (and for good reason).
