FYI: Jackson sticks his nose in all things involving power-minority groups that he is concerned with.
http://www.rainbowpush.org/about/ However, the treatment of homosexuals seems not to be one of those things unless the main issues are HIV education, health care, gender and/or race. In other words, usually something more than what's going on in this case.
Sharpton more exclusively deals with issues concerning racial and ethnic minorities.
The good thing about homosexuals as a power-minority group is that they aren't as voiceless as they once were when it comes to incidents such as this--still more room for advancement. And it doesn't hurt that these news stories tend to be about white homosexuals and their whiteness levels the playing field a bit more and gives them more voice and sympathy votes. The more silent battles of racial and ethnic minority homosexuals is a bit different and that's why there are groups like Rainbow PUSH and others to address that difference.
