clearly he doesn't know the slogan.. that's such bad sportmanship i mean some countries would be honored to receive any kind of medal..
***Sadly the U.S. is down on the medal count by one***

That's awesome! My cousin is one of the USAMU gunsmiths, I'll have to check if he's done any work with that guy.

Ha! Good point!
Can't say that I follow women's tennis as closely, but.... I did watch women's beach volleyball with him last night. Does that count?

LOL. I think every woman's husband was glued to the television last night with a sudden and intense interest in that sport...

Nittany, I'm trying to find an electronic copy of an article I read this morning.
It talks about a retired Chinese couple who paid and arm and a leg to see the Beach Volleyball matches. As she stares straight ahead; he is grinning. He is not watching the match. He is eying the bikini-clad dancers.
As soon as I read your post, I couldn't help but think of it.

NBC is really proud of the fact that they are able to air live some marquee events, including swimming and gymnastics. Of course, when they say air live, they only mean that it will be live to the Eastern and Central time zones. For some reason, viewers in the Mountain and Pacific time zones watch taped events.

Ok this ticks me off since I live in Mountain Time Zone. Like i've mentioned before, I watch the Olympics for the women's gymnastics competition. So the fact that they cut out some of the gymnastics competition to show me stupid ol' Michael Phelps and his pre-recorded events, gets me miffed.

The U.S. baseball team won a 7-0 decision over the Netherlands today, with Stephen Strasburg throwing seven scoreless innings of one-hit ball, left fielder Matt LaPorta contributing a three-run homer and Washington Nationals prospect Shairon Martis taking the loss. That's the normal version.
The weird version ends with talk of a protest of a protest, and goes something like this: the game was halted for an hour and 45 minutes due to monsoon-like rain in in the top of the eighth. The announced attendance had been 996, a number that quickly plummeted to no more than 200. The first pitch after the delay was lined back at Dutch pitcher Dave Draijer, who left the game with an arm injury, leading to another delay.
By the top of bottom of the eighth, the rain had returned. By the top of the ninth, it was pouring. And with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, rain splashing everywhere and the Dutch down 7-0, the umpires pulled the players off the field, to loud boos, or as loud as a few dozen people could manage. Most of the remaining fans then left. Not counting Wukesong Baseball Field volunteers and national officials, there were perhaps 50 of us in the stands.
|
Anyone hear about this? Can you imagine having a game called on the account of rain in the ninth inning when you have bases loaded and no outs?

that def. sucks that the game was called on the account of rain.. maybe if there were a few outs and the bases weren't loaded i'd understand... but stufff like that doesn't happen all that often so if i were one of the 50 people there i would kind of be pissed.

One of my TPA sisters just told me she swims with him [and she's also good friends with Soni - what a swim!]. I will now be going to her practices.

I am extremely annoyed that the two Chinese gymnasts, who had extremely visible balance checks and issues with their routines, had fewer deductions than Shawn Johnson who had a much tougher routine and less problems. At least they scored Nastia appropriately.
