Why was the thread asking why LadyLonghorn's thread was moved moved?

DeltAlum, I have a sincere question. Why was the action taken in this case a complete removal of the thread, rather than a removal of the posts that were pointed personal attacks with offensive (to some) language? I would have thought the posts that were against the TOS could have been removed rather than the entire thread. I'm not questioning to be argumentative, I'm questioning to understand, and as such would appreciate a reply when possible.

That is a fair question. The reason is that the posters would very likely have simply reposted.

I think that this thread may be proof of that.

I can understand that, to a point. But, I personally think that type of preemptive moderation is more likely to inflame the masses, and also more likely to cause more work rather than less work for the moderator in the end. I suppose it is a case of whether you choose to believe the best, or expect the worst.

I think this thread may also be proof of that. (Said in a manner that shouldn't be interpreted as flippantly as it might appear online.)
