Someone
Well I'm glad to see that there a couple of Pikes out there that still look at this page. I have been having computer issues lately such I haven't been able to post anything. The main theme I have seen in general from going to different chapters in my region is that Pikes are always the elite. I believe this is so everywhere, let me know what's up?

Yea its the same around here. Our chapter is in Slippery Rock University. Its a small campus with 7 fraternities and 6 sororites. We are the best around campus hate to sound cocky but its true. We have the most numbers about 50. We are one the the few fraternities that does community service around here, we sweep in IM games however we came in 2nd in greek week. We lost to Sigma Tau Gamma by 20 points. The only thing we are not good at is Greek Sing because we refuse to sing N'Sync songs. We've won greek week ever since, we got our charter in '97 and won greek week '97-'00 but we'll get em next year. All of the sororities luv us and we get along with all of them, we actually have to fight them off and decide out of all 6 of them who we want as our greek week partner. Anyway how is everyone else's chapter? PPKA to all of my bros

Sounds like Slippery Rock University and Old Dominion University have a lot in common. My chapter was just reinstated back in 1995 and we have been the power house on campus for the most part. We were actually just getting off probation when I pledged in the fall of 99. We have reciently gotten out of debt. And from the time I pledged to now we have gone from 11 to 35 brothers. We rack up on IM also. We won it all last year and are on our way again this year. There is not a lot of school spirit at ODU because we do not have a football team but my chapter is trying to change that.
Not really any of the other fraternities over here do much community service. Beside us Theta Chi, and Sigma Pi (colony), we are the only ones who really do anything on the campus.
Do you have the same problems? Lack of school spirit, fraternities on campus being half ass, no one really caring in general?
Let me know I am really curious.

Actually we do have a lot in common. The only fraternities that do stuff around here is our fraternity and Sigma Tau Gamma. Both of us are rivals but only because we are the only fraternities that dominate sports and do community service around here. So out of the 7 fraternities around here only 2 of them really do anything. Both of our fraternities hold up the greek system while the other fraternities just party and get busted for everything. Its very frustrating to establish a good reputation for Greeks around here. phi phi bro

I understand your frustration. As fraternities we are not allowed to have kegs at parties. The Tekes through keg parties all the time and just reciently got busted for a twelve kegger. I mean come on! They were having eight keggers like every other weekend and never got busted...reason, because a twelve member chapter is not considered a threat on campus. We have gone from 10 to 8 fraternities in one year in the Fraternity Council because of one chapter not educating their members enough and the other had a under age pledge die from binge drinking. In all this time there have been six sororities. As far as our NPHC goes, they don't do shit! When I asked them personally to help out with homecoming, Greek Fest and other such events they did not even want to do them. I don't want this to sound like a bitch fest but I understand the frustration.
It is hard to motivate people when they cannot see outside the lines of their own organization. When will they understand that fraternities aren't about the partying; they are about the hard work that makes them function!

I completely understand. Some fraternities are known for slipping drugs into girl's drinks. I mean thats just wrong. So alot of girls are scared to go to fraternity parties becuz they assume that everyone does it. People just care about all the stuff that Greeks do wrong. We all raised 7k dollars for Make-A-Wish but noone puts it in the paper but when a party gets busted, its all over the paper. I hear that the OU chapter got probation for alchol, that really sucks. Where is everyone else? I know there are more pikes on this thing then us two!

I understand completely. I doubt it if anything good has ever been printed up or shown on the news of what Greeks do. We just finished Relay for Life for the Amercan Cancer Society over at ODU and all but I think two teams that participated were Greek! Where is our recognition! Oh well, all anyone really wants to hear about now a days is how Greeks are bringing down society. What a laugh, I mean Greeks in general do more for their community than any other school related organization I know. Of course we understand what goes into our organizations, the hard work, discipline, commitment, and overall heart to do what we are supposed to do. No one else will ever truely know, oh well.
As far as any other Pikes out there if you have something to say speak up. I would like to hear some input from you all as well.

Hey Pikes,
After reading about your chapters (assuming it's all true), I am envious. My chapter got it's charger in '97. Since then our record has been spotty. Except for winning IM soccer last year, we have come in about dead last in every other sport. Most we can't even field enough guys for a team. We have never done a fundraiser, we don't do any community service. Our chapter gpa is the second lowest on campus, right ahead of the fraternity everyone refers to as "future truck drivers of America". We're in horrible debt, and the chapter doesn't care. We did'nt do anything for greek week this year. As long as the potheads can have their drugs things stay the same. Our EC has been known to embezzle chapter funds too. There's a lot more wrong here but I won't get into it. I have been a member for a full year now and tried to change things with a few other guys. We are generally laughed at. What a joke! At least you guys prove not all chapters

Hey, East Coast! Where do you go to school? If you're unhappy, you should transfer down here to a chapter in Florida. This might be the best state for Pikes. At FSU we have 130 members; no one else has 100. We won greek week, intramurals, we're #1 in scholarship, and we've got guys on the football and track teams. The guys are studs at Miami, Florida Southern, FIT, U-Central Florida, and a couple of others. The Pikes at U-Florida are still a colony but it's an old chapter with a great house. they're just coming back after a year. Don't despair! Pikes might be the best fraternity in the country today.

Y' all East and South Coasters don't be afraid of the Golden West Region!!! Us Theta Psi Boys have 60 plus brothers in a 3500 population campus. We handle our own down here at Chapman University. Honestly we would for all you Brothers to come down here and pay us a visit...WE RESPECT ALL CHAPTERS, BUT FEAR NO OTHER FRATERNITIES!!!!!!
Much Love and Respect to All Pikes Out There
