. I remember when I was about a year old one of my prophytes asked how I felt now that I had been around for a little bit and I told him, I love being an Alpha BUT I have a hard time with the way nationals is run--it's basically a corporation and feels disconnected from the "grassroots" of everyday brothers. His response: "Yeah, I think everyone feels that way" (this was circa 1992-93). "Experience" to me, at that level, equates to "more of the same."
I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for, but I think emphasizing strength of the brotherhood, greater transparency, a stronger linkage between alumni and college chapters for mentorship as well as intergenerational fellowship, and a better sense of history (re-invigorating the meaning and origins behind all the rituals in a cultural-historical context) would be good. I think Skip comes closer to those aims and ideals than Peale does.
