Turns out it is actually a pretty good deal. $10 gets you a free movie and every movie I pay full price for, I get one of the older movies for free. You get 1-$1.99 movie a month free, one free movie a month, 10% off any condiments. I was nursing an aggravated injury and was spending a few days on the couch watching movies. I rented 7 for around $20. Now, I'll only be in once a month probably, but it was still a good deal.

Along those lines - if you drink Coke products and collect the Rewards points, some of the rewards give you pretty good deals at Blockbuster.

I hate the sensors that they put on the DVDs and video games.
The last time I rented Wii games from BB, the sensor got stuck inside the Wii and my Wii was unable to work anymore. It wouldn't read any games that were inserted. I called up Nintendo and they said that it was damaged and I had to return it to them to fix it.
When I went back to BB to let them know & see if they could pay the maintanence fee, the Manager said no. He said the only way they could pay for it (after asking the area manager) was if I sent my Wii to their repairman---who was only experienced repairing VCRs. lol.

My boyfriend was a former store manager for BB. I read him your post and he says the sensors should be inside the boxes, not on the games themselves. He says the store manager is just worried about it hitting his bottom line. The best course of action is to ask to speak to the district manager and then to the regional manager. If you make a big enough fuss, they will give you what you want.

Oh really? Interesting, I had told the manager he should take them off to avoid this happening again to someone else, and according to him, they HAD to keep the "sensors" (he claimed it was a sensor, it just looked like black tape to me) on the DVDs and games.
I thought about speaking to the district manager, but the store manager was on the phone w/ her while I was there, and she didn't seem like much help.
Nintendo was only charging me $50 to get it repaired, and I didnt think it was worth the fuss.

I would go ahead and make the fuss... you'll get your $50 and hopefully the SM will fix the labeling so you can keep renting there. Gamefly and Netflix (we have both) don't label their discs with sensors, and they are BB's biggest competition. BB's only goal right now is to stay in business and keep members, so if you make it seem like you and all your friends are headed to Gamefly/Netflix, they'll be happy to help you.

I hate to say it, but unless you spoke to her, he/she could have been having a conversation with his answering machine. $50 is just over half a tank of gas. I'd ask for the shipping cost too.

Yeah that's true, but ahhh I guess i'm a softy. If someone says "we can't" a few times, I give in to the alternative.
Besides its been around 2-3 months, Nintendo has since repaired it. Plus the store manager gave me credit on my BB account to compensate the service charge.
Next time though, i'll stand firm! lol. Especially since the only other video store we have here is Hollywood Video and they also put that little tape/sensor thing on their games!!
