I think you're looking just a little too much into it. I really don't think the idea of him putting in a basketball court, IF he is elected, is one that shows his commitment to social equality and his willingness to work with others. It means he likes to play basketball. Most in-the-spotlight basketball players are whiny, overpaid, ball hogs, haha.
