I was just coming to this thread to post the same. The pumps around here also cut off at $75 for credit card sales at the pump- so I am spending $75 twice a week for gas now, but have not had a truly full tank in a couple of weeks.
jon1856- Good call posting that article about station owners. They are really getting screwed over in all of this. In addition to the cost increases you reference, demand is actually going down for gas- so they are also making less revenue on a volume basis.
Producers and oilfield services are of course making a killing, but quite a few business lines in the oil/gas industry do not fare well when prices get like this.

Thanks.
But more importantly is just how low one lets their gas tank get.
For at least two reasons, you should not let it get down to "Zero":
1) There will always be a small amount of dirt and sediments in ones tank.
The lower it gets, more will get pulled into engine.
When you have a PM done on car, ask the mechanic to check your gas filter when he checks your air filter.
2) Unlike gas station tanks, which float, car's tanks can form water condensation. And the lower you get in tank, the better the chance of the water on top will get into engine.

Its officially then end of the world, its hit the $4.00+ mark in El Paso.
I got an email the other day about how to save gas, and one was to not buy gas during the day---to either fill your tank up in the morning or in the evening when the temperature is cooler. At first I didn't think it mattered until this last time I filled up my tank and got a lot less mileage!!

Not yet. I filled up Saturday for $3.89 and the next day that same station was $3.99.

Energy Dept. says oil, gas prices to stay high
WASHINGTON - Motorists can expect gasoline prices around $4 gallon through next year, the Energy Department said Wednesday, with oil prices staying well above $100 a barrel.
Crude oil prices are likely to average $126 a barrel in 2009, $4 higher than this year, as oil supplies and demand are expected to remain tight, Guy Caruso, head of the department's Energy Information Administration, told a House hearing.....

I hope that the e-mail was not the kind covered in following link from
Snopes:
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/gastips.asp
Sort of mixed reviews/thoughts. Very interesting read.
Other sites cover it as well:

Linked from ^ is the following which also has some good info:
