Carnation, how old daughter #9? And would she be interested in seeing how close FSU's top-notch music school is to the Pi Phi house on campus?

She's a rising high school freshman and sure she would! She's a real joiner--interested in all things musical plus she just made varsity cheering!

Her brothers are a rising junior and rising senior and their uncles and cousins are broaching the topic of the wonderfulness of Kappa Sig, btw. LOL!

Carnation, you tell #9 that I said that as a Chi Omega legacy she has 173 choices of where to attend college!

Just out of curiosity, are/were ALL of the carnation daughters cheerleaders?

Nut, you are bad! Actually, while I was hyping those Bama colleges, BlazerCheer was standing there rolling her eyes at me. She knew what I was doing too!

honeychile, of the 7 who have gone to high school so far, 6 have cheered and the 7th did band and soccer. I kind of doubt that daughters 8 and 9 will cheer because one's very athletic and the other is tiny and would have to fly but she's afraid of heights.

You mean Ballerina--she was a Pi Kap Rosebud? I bet she will jump in there if the schools they choose have Pi Kaps.

she was just fine with Valdosta or Georgia Southern, where most of her sisters went
But didn't one of those very sisters transfer to/graduate from UGA? What a marvelous state flagship you have...

Yes, StarryNight (no recruitment thread on her)

Now--I just have to finish getting recs for my daughter who, for recruitment purposes, I will call StarryNight.

The 3 cousins and 2 friends will get names later!

StarryNight (the 5th one) will get to meet her future ZTA sister-in-law in 6 weeks at our oldest daughter's wedding!

Very cool!

I knew Carnation did a graduate degree there, but I didn't know that one of her children went there too.

Now that Pi Phi is expanding there, the Carnation nation will have all the more reason to visit campus. They might have a member for every chapter.

ETA: I think that the dress comment in the quotes is really funny. PNMs, if they are getting white dresses for pledging ceremonies, should really think about something timeless and as season-less as possible. It could really get a lot of use, and the panhellenic experience of that dress is particularly funny to me.

I believe the latest from StarryNight is that she is engaged to be married (there's a thread on that somewhere, in ChitChat or Dating and Relationships, I can't remember). I don't think she ever had a formal recruitment thread here.

Quick rundown (I'm pretty sure this is all correct):

Daughter #1, ASLFRose: AOII at Georgia Southern
Daughters #2 and #3, Ballerina and BlazerCheer: Chi-O at Valdosta State
Daughter #4, BabyBerry: AOII at Jacksonville State
Daughter #5, StarryNight: ZTA at Mississippi State
Daughter #6, SweetTea: Phi Mu at Valdosta State

I'm only listing daughters and not friends/cousins/etc because that would get out of hand! LOL

ETA: Just saw that this is only two pages back in the thread. Not quite as updated, but includes cousins/friends/adults in the family.

Quote:
fifties-cousins and aunts-DZ, KKG, AGD, AZD/Houston, Texas, UGa, Stetson
seventies-Carnation, Pi Phi, Auburn;cousins-Phi Mu and DZ/ Ole Miss,Ga. College
nineties-2 cousins-AOII, Birmingham Southern; cousin, ZTA, Samford
2000-ASLFRose, AOII, Georgia Southern
2002-Ballerina, Chi O, Valdosta
2003-Blazercheer, Chi O, Valdosta; UGaCousin, Phi Mu, UGA
2004-Baby Berry and Baby Berry Cousin, AOII, Jax State
2005-StarryNight, ZTA, Mississippi State, BerryCousins 2 and 3, AOII, Jax State
2007-recruitment for #6 daughter!

Awesome, but I'm really just quoting to salute your signature.
ETA: since signatures don't quote. Here it is forever:

and how he kissed me under the Moorish wall and I thought well as well him as another and then I asked him with my eyes to ask again yes and then he asked me would I yes to say yes my mountain flower and first I put my arms around him yes and drew him down to me so he could feel my breasts all perfume yes and his heart was going like mad and yes I said yes I will Yes.

Wow! You guys are awesome!

Yes, StarryNight is engaged to her Lambda Chi and we owe it all to PenguinTrax and FSUZeta (whom I get to meet IRL next week!), who set up her Zeta recs--and she met him at a Zeta-Lambda Chi social!

LowCSharp, Ballerina is finishing at UGa but it's now incredibly hard to get into and there's not a parent around anymore who'll assume that of course their child will get in. We've all seen too many fabulous students who didn't so it's presented as one of many options.
