We have line names and some chapters also have nicknames.
I always giggled when Sorors and nonSorors shared their line names in their introduction to me. We weren't taught to give a long drawn out intro with line names and stuff. Don't bore people. So I still pick on Greeks who share their line name to introduce themselves. I picked on this Omega Neo this weekend and said "I just need your real name...all that other stuff is...special."
I'm sure "Sexual Harassment Panda" would've annoyed me and made me call you a "cornball" if you introduced yourself to me like that.

Generally a BGLO term that means different things depending on where you're from/are.

Haha yea I know you all have nicknames, I meant the difference is that Asian Greeks actually call each other by nicknames (with Lambdas, it's actually *unusual* to introduce yourself to another bro by your real name unless you're in the West Coast). In my neo days, since ALL I DID was hang out with other Asian Greeks, I don't remember ever being referred to as Charles at all. All I'd ever hear was "hey hooters" all the time, unless I was at home, in which case my mom and dad and brother would not do that.
But the problem is sometimes bros are so used to introducing themselves by nicknames that they mistakenly do so even to a non Greek. Which gets kinda awkward and funny at the same time, especially if their nicknames are one of those derogatory funny ones.
What's the difference by the way, between line name and nickname? Or is this also something "that means different things depending on where you're from/are" that I'm just not supposed to know
edit/
oops, I realized what you may have meant was that there are nicknames for the chapters themselves

This will vary by chapter, area, or the individuals. There are BGLO members who are known by their line names or nicknames and people have no idea what their real names are.

I honestly couldn't tell you the real names of almost anyone in my husband's (IFC) undergrad chapter. No one ever uses anything but their pledge names. I think even some of the guys' families call them by their pledge names at this point ...

Oh ok. I only had the impression earlier because I remember asking this question on an older thread, and recall that every BGLO member that replied said they never went by nicknames.

Sexual Harassment Panda is actually considered a pretty cool nickname. I know quite a lot of lambdas who would loove to have a nickname like that. I think stanrang21 knows what I'm talking about (since he knew some purdue lambdas)
