While I'm a Krispy Kreme kinda girl, through and through, I pretty much just like donuts in general... I'll take them when I can get them! But really, I think the true questions is yeast donut or cake donut. If you prefer yeast, you're usually gonna love KK... if you're a cake person, it's gonna be DD (or Tim Hortons if you're up North... and I admit, I love those!!!).

We had a Krispy Kreme in my area but it went out of business; I have yet to try one of their doughnuts. According to the Krispy Kreme website the closest Krispy Kreme is 163 miles away in Austin.
When I was a kid we would always stop at Dunkin’ Doughnuts on our way to Wisconsin. I have never understood the appeal. I only know of one Dunkin’ Doughnuts in all of Houston but I’ve never been.
So I voted "Other" and I'd also like to cast my vote for Fatback.
In Houston I would say it is Shipley’s Do-Nuts that reign supreme (86 locations). Their pretty much the go to place for doughnuts. I have one right down the block from my house and after I make it home from a late night I can smell them cooking doughnuts from my driveway. I hardly ever eat doughnuts but on the rare occasion that I do it’s Shipley’s
When it comes to breakfast food it's all about Klobasneks aka Kolaches.
/edit: Oh yeah if you are ever in the Clear Lake area Morning Kolaches is the place to go.

Exactly. And the reality is, I hate cake doughnuts of any variety.

i wasnt even aware that KK made other flavored donuts aside from the hot and tasty glazed ones.
i'm a certified fattie, so either donut will do. plus, there are way more DD than KK (the only KK i can think of is on 23rd st) and i do think its a matter of preference of yeast vs. cake. with DD, i can have one and be OK. with KK, it's like i'm eating sugar and air.
and who REALLY dunks their donuts in coffee? is that supposed to be the adult version of dunking Oreos in milk?
p.s. my vote for collard greens all the way - i dont fugg with chitlins or fatback.

Shipleys is good stuff. That's crazy that there isn't a KK in Houston or around it.

Now if only Tim's ever makes an appearance in the Lone Star State...
'Creepy Cream' - ahem, Krispy Kreme - best if ya get 'em hot from the store.
'Drunken Blownuts' - ahem, Dunkin' Donuts - slowly making a reappearance in North Texas. You can get packages of the coffee here.
And in the Lone Star State... it's Shipley Do-Nuts. They're the 'official' donut supplier to the Mission Operations Control Room (MOCR) at Johnson Space Center. There's one practically across the street from them.

DD is not awful-I like their plain cake donuts. But give me Krispy Kreme any day! I grew up near the one in NMB and it's famazing. I drove by it last night and my boyfriend refused to drive back the same way for me to get a box on the way home. I LOVE how they keep the light on all the time and the parking lot is always full. They had one near my school's other campus too, but now it's a Chik-Fil-A which is a decent exchange (one nice southern thing for another) since it could have been some other random crap. I'll even take a cold KK because you can stick it in the microwave for like 3 secs. like the box advises and it'll be okay. I love the way it's light and yeasty and not all dense. It still tastes nice and it's not as quick to get gross like a DD. If you prefer DD over KK- it's like blasphemy to me!
ETA: when I go to buy donuts I buy donuts. not lattes, not fraps, not any other crap-just donuts. that is what you should primarily be going to a donut shop for. if you want coffee and breakfast sandwhiches, seek a coffee shop-they need your business to stave off Starbucks.

Dump the guy... how could he not accommodate your request?
You grew up in NMB? Ah yes... the KK at NE 167th and NE 6th Avenue! I grew up a little further south in North Miami - GO PIONEERS!

It's been a while since you asked, but I thought I'd post this just in case someone else wonders:
