I don't know if anyone will believe me or not.
I had no interest in joining an NPHC sorority, because it didn't really occur to me to join one. I wasn't fully aware of the existance of NPHC orgs until I started reading GC. I knew there were a such thing of black orgs, but they weren't active on my campus at all (at that time). It was kind of out of sight, out of mind thing, I guess. I was non-greek the first year of college, and I knew many of the NPC/IFC greeks from class. I liked certain NPC sororities and their "brother" IFC chapters more than others, so next fall I rushed the ones I liked.
But, looking back, I probably would have not joined an NPC sorority. One of the things I liked about APO (my chapter) was the diversity, and not just racial diversity, I fitted in really well. I don't think I would've fit into a typical NPC or NPHC sorority chapter, in my area.

People misuse the "monolithic group" phrase everyday. It's like someone used "monolithic" in a sentence one day and caused a EUREKA in people's minds that can't be overcome.
Saying there is a such thing as an "XYZ culture" isn't about being a monolithic group.
No matter how much you and your brother love black people (  ), you still acknowledge that you are Filipino and that there is a "Filipino and/or Filipino-American culture." This doesn't require that Filipinos think, say, and do the exact same things to recreate the culture.

I just wonder why some Blacks are so anti for joining so called white GLOs?
It seems that there is more racism from Blacks than Whites when it comes to these situations.
If you do not walk in those persons shoes, who are any to belittle them?
They as an individual make their choices, not any of the posters who may want to act snide about it! 
People will go to where they feel at ease not because of color.
