I saw it last night and loved it. Is it Shakespeare? No - it's an Indiana Jones movie, and I'm not sure why the critics has such a problem figuring that out. It is fun - and I've missed fun at the movies.

Agreed! Maybe I was anticipating and relishing it so much because they just don't make movies like this anymore! I mean I know they just made this one, but they are rare! I love it when Spielburg and Lucas come together! Pure genius!

I saw what I wanted to see....I knew it would show up....
Did anyone catch who the statue on the University campus was of? I was LMAO when I saw the name!
Also I did like the ending, I think they may be a spin off in the future....Lucas always does things in trios....
I missed Sala!!!!

Wow, I am amazed at how many people liked this movie. My fiance and I went and saw it Friday afternoon and left the theatre hoping for a refund. We just kept waiting for the movie to start.
Plus I didn't get the whole changing of photography in the movie? One minute it's so fakey and sound stage looking, the next it's like they're throwing in CGI and green screen stuff. It made my head hurt.
I hope they don't make another. I love the Last Crusade, it was a shame that the new one had to ruin the earlier movies.

^^With you.
I tried to see it Sat. night with a friend and it was sold out. I'm glad I waited until Sun. since it was our anniversary my bf paid for it and I couldn't really "complain" in front of him.
It was "fun" and I appreciated it to some degree for what it was (having not seen any other IJ film). However, I was baffled by how much was just NOT going on/making sense. But it's an American icon so it's like whatev...you can't really complain too much cos it is what it is I guess.

Probably would have enjoyed it a lil' more if there weren't so many spoilers in the preview reports (the trailers actually did a better job of throwing you off!) published on line.
It was just as fast paced as the others with a nice breather to tell the story.
Shia Lebouf was pretty good...he had a nice little bit of an Errol Flynn scene in the flick and they even tried to imply that he may get his own series (Hint to Lucasfilm: he is still too prettyboy to do the justice Harrison Ford did for Indy).
You can tell that Ford has gotten up there but he can still work his magic.
karen Allen is STILL feisty as Marion
Cate Blanchett is a good villainess.
They even give a few nods to the older films that if you remember enough you will get the inside gags
As far as likeabilty, my order is this:
Raiders
Temple of Doom
Kingdom
Last Crusade
yeah....that warehouse is familiar...just you wait!

Dude...your order is so off...but anyhow... It was good, though Spielberg
***spoiler***
really needs to stop with his spaceship BS. I'm getting tired of his movies ending that way, it's so lame.
I have to say though, I was thrilled that Ford picked up the fedora that rolled to Shia's feet at the end and put it on....They can't continue with Shia, he was alright, but not the highlight for me. Who is he going to "fight"? Hippies in the 60s?
As usual HF was awesome as Indy(props to a Sigma Nu!) and Cate Blanchett was great as well.

OMG!!! You know what Shia can fight... (his hair) LOL! Apparently that was his biggest enemy. (I love that kid though).
I too am sick of "the aliens" WTF. I can't even see ET without panicking so I wasn't feeling that. It's really played out.

We just saw it tonight. Boyfriend loved it, I thought it blew chunks. When the credits started rolling, I turned to him and said (kinda loudly), "A space ship?!" He spent the whole ride home trying to convince me that they had to use the space ship at the end to carry out the sci-fi part of the story. Whatever, I thought it was so UN-Indiana Jones.
The movie started really odd. And Indy's dialogue in the beginning is weird...like a totally different character. I didn't start to get into the movie until the driving-and-fighting-through-the-forest scene, which was quite a ways into it. It was like Harrison Ford wasn't in his character until that escape scene.
Shia's character drove me nuts until probably halfway through the movie, and by then he had grown on me. Cate Blanchet's Russian accent bugged me, too, and they should've just let her keep her strawberry blonde hair.

exactly!! they can't pass down the torch, ever. It's not james bond, it won't work.
But here is something that really bothers me, and I've been thinking about since I saw it....when was Indiana Jones a double agent? What happened in Berlin? If they do make another movie, it needs to be about that.
And also, why did the preppies and the greasers line up to rumble? It was Indiana Jones, not the Outsiders.
And, right before they showed the statue on campus, the same scene, where the KGB is chasing them, did anyone else notice the guy dressed up like indiana jones? full hat and whip on the side of belt and everything. I liked that part.
I liked the movie on the whole, but it was Indiana Jones, so of course I did.
