People are always forgetting about the 3 oz. rule.
No kidding.

I'm glad I'm Platinum so I can board right after first class since it's hard to get overhead space on regular flights anyway. But this is going to be insane.

ANd security frustrates me sooooo much. I travel ALL THE TIME and it sucks when you are in an airport that doesn't have a first class security line and you end up behind the family of 5 that has 2 baby strollers and 5 backpacks and they have no clue what needs to go through the xray machine or they they can't be wearing metal or have cell phones in their pockets/etc. I can't imagine adding carryon suitcases with liquids all over the place and no ziplock bags...

I carry on to a plane a bag with my camera gear and CPAP machine-neither one is going into the hold. Ends up being a size that just fits regulations.
Now, with this stuff, people will be being everything on board the plane and I agree it will cause problems.
Think of this situation:
A family of four goes to FL for either a long weekend or short week.
Now you will have four, "small" rolling take-on sized pieces of luggage. Add to that 2-3 other bags.
Now add in a full plane due to flight cut backs.

Works for me. If you're flying from Pittsburgh International and want to eat something on the plane, you have a whole mall full of choices. If you don't get something, then you always would get exactly 24 nuts/chips/chex mix in a snack pack - if a nut broke in half, 23 nuts and two halves. I once mentioned this at a party, and a few of the others started counting - always twenty-four!

I've heard that American Airlines saved $100,000. per year by putting ONE less olive in each salad served in First Class. If this is USAirways' equivalent, I'm all for it. Too many of my USAirways friends have lost their jobs in the past decade. Check out The New York Times for the full article. I'd rather eat less and pay less - but I'd probably feel differently, if I was regularly flying over 4 hours a week!

Midwest Airlines announced today there will be a fee for the second checked bag. This seems reasonable to me - it gives you a carry-on and one checked piece. I can usually get at least 10 days worth of stuff in that. It'll penalize the heavy heavy travelers without making everyone resort to trying to drag everything on board.

I took the commuter flight between Minneapolis and Milwaukee pretty regularly for the last three years and I'd always try to sit towards the back when picking my seat so I knew there'd be room in the overhead.

I like the new Southwest commercial. It is about how other airlines are charging for every single thing. The flight attendant is speaking to the passengers and telling them that even going to the bathroom and using the button to call the flight attendant has a small fee.

As much as i've heard bad things about Southwest (from friends---especially one who's a Flight Attendant for Continental), i've never had a problem. I'll continue to fly Southwest as long as I need to.

Is this fee (for all the airlines that charge it) per person? Cause everytime I read about these new baggage fees I think of the Gosselins (think: Jon & Kate plus 8) and all the luggage they carry. I wonder how much they pay (when they don't fly Southwest, lol)?
