In about a month, my husband is moving us out of Texas and into West Virginia. You may feel sorry for me now.

Dallas is getting so ridiculously metro and trendy it's hard to stomach.
Love Ft. Worth though. Bunch to do if you know what you are doing.

Most of the social activities during my freshman year of college took place in Ft. Worth, so I know that there are things to do. Most of what I've seen recently is the city trying to recapture the whole "Cowtown" thing (I know it's always been Cowtown, but there seems to be more of an emphasis on it now). That really doesn't appeal to me.
I like the direction that Dallas is going in because it's trying harder to be a "real" city now.

I just don't think a bunch of 30,000$ millionaires, trendy clubs with lambos parked out front, fake breasted women, and euro-trash clothing are the makers of a "real" city.
I mean, was Dallas not always a "real" city? I'm not actually sure what that means, hahaha.

I am so sorry. Be sure and get a Texas Monthly subscription. It really helps.

You will LOVE San Marcos! Be sure to eat at Grin's, Herbert's Taco Hut, and get the boyfriend to take you to Palmer's. Shop at Paper Bear (not to mention the outlet stores!) and have a margarita at the Green Parrot!

Maybe it's because I'm an older guy (pushing the big 30 here soon), but I really dig me some 8.0's, Flying Saucer, Fox and the Hound and that sort. I've really toyed with the idea of getting one of those lofts downtown, I teach at a school that's only about 7 miles from there and just living it up.
As it turns out, my apartment is like 10 minutes from Billy Bob's and the Stockyards. So, Stockyards, Downtown, Camp Bowie are all within short driving range. Hulen's not even that far.
But thats me, I'm an older guy that went to HS in a town of 4,000. FW is all I need. PLus you don't have the Credit Card millionaires, gel-head metros, horrific drivers, and Mavs fans that you find in Dallas.

Well, you might as well go ahead and buy you something with that baby-puke orange cowhead on it, as anyone that goes to SWT is just a frustrated Longhorn who couldn't get into Austin. And I woudln't go all out on the TSU-SM wardrobe yet, that school changes names every 4 years, they're due for a new one.

Burnt Orange reminds me of God's glorious Texas sunset. Maroon reminds me of plums.

So sad what's happening in West Virginia. A state so blessed with natural resources and beauty, and it's being stolen by outsiders that don't care at all about the land and its residents. My boyfriend and I watched a documentary the other night about the new style of mining being done in West Virginia - called Rise Up! West Virginia - that was very educational and disturbing.

LOL @ the credit card millionaires. That is very true. I'm only 23, but I'm out of the "OOOOH, let's go partying every night!!" phase. Still, the FW scene just doesn't do it for me. I've traveled all over and have lived in some very large cities, so that's probably why I'm drawn to Dallas more.

Thanks! I'll make a note of that!
I'm from Atlanta, so I don't know a thing about Texas. The last time I was out there, I was in Nacogdoches with the boo and he took me to Dallas, where he's from. I liked Dallas from what I saw.
