Wow, I've been gone a minute ...
Just stopped by to let everybody know I made Lifetime (WW) on April 20. I am still in loss mode because I have a personal goal which I hope to reach prior to a sorority function in July.
The posts here have been awesome! Everyone keep up the good work!

My goal is three-fold.
(1) I'm trying to lose weight before the swearing-in ceremony in October. I KNOW that I am going to pass this bar exam and get sworn in in October and I want to look GOOD! I might just snag a man there! LOL!
(2) My birthday is also in October and possibly will be the same week or the week after the bar result come out. I'm going to try to take a trip to New York to celebrate.
(3) I am trying to reach my ultimate goal by December 31, 2008.
Right now, since I am pressed for time, I am doing Couch-to-5K on M/W/F and Turbo Jam on the other days. I try to squeeze in a little Pilates or yoga before I go to bed. It helps me sleep better.
I'm going to be SEXY by year's end, honey!

So am I! I'm running a 5K in July. I fell off last week and the week prior because of my vacation. But, tomorrow, it's back at it. I'm need to re-do the last day of Week 6.

I'm using the PODRUNNER: Intervals First Day to 5K podcasts by DJ Steveboy. The music is so-so, but it gets the job done. I like the way the BPM changes during the walk v. run and it has cues that let you know when to walk/run. It was crazy to keep track when I was listening to regular music and trying to keep the time by myself. I couldn't focus on running/walking, as I was always watching the time.
I am only on Week 2, but I am really enjoying it. I've tried it before and I don't think I've even made it this far. I have REALLY had to push myself. However, it's getting much easier to do. I'm trying to work on controlling my breathing and maintaining form since I am using the treadmill. Hopefully, once I regain my life in August, I can take my runs to the street or track. There is also a Gateway to 8K podcast once you get a handle on the 5K. I may try that one down the road. I need to get over THIS hump first.

My lower belly "pooch" is my problem area. I just can't seem to tighten that up. This could probably be attributed to my utter disdain for sit-ups, crunches and any/all ab work.
I want to try something that will get me out of that mindset and kick me into gear. Suggestions?

Get the Winsor Pilates DVDs. The basic 20-minute dvd, and the 20-minute abs workout are guaranteed to work. They also have an Upper Body workout, and a Legs/buns workout. If you do the basic workout and the abs workout (a little difficult but once you learn the motions) 3-4 times a week, you will easily lose at least an inch in the first two weeks.
Also, lots of water will help tummy pooches, bc it helps get rid of water retention and any constipation.
Lastly, try walking 5-10 miles a week to get your metabolism going and build lean muscle. LAst time I did 10 miles a week, I lost 10 pounds in a month. In fact, I am going to start that program again.
Let me know if you decide to do Pilates. It feels awesome.

as if folks need an incentive, here's a good one:The Today Show reports If the trends of the past three decades
continue, it's possible that every American adult could be overweight
40 years from now, based up on figures collected and published in the
journal Obesity, from government survey data collected between the
1970s and 2004.
The study reports 2/3 of the American population is already
overweight. Data regarding African- American women, for instance,
show 78 percent are currently overweight or obese. Weight problems
will be most acute among African-Americans. All black women could be
overweight by 2034

Wow, you look great! You've definitely been a thinspiration for me.
I stopped work on the weight-loss life change July 07 and restarted on 2/15/08. It's 5/27/08 and even though the scale has only dropped down 15 lbs, I've lost a dress size. It's hard though, its a constant struggle.

BabyBlue 91,
I have to keep reading your story over and over again to tell myself not to become discouraged! I've been eating healthier, working out, but I see no results. That is ok! I know I have to work harder and it'll show at some point.
