Is the point to taint McCain, do you think?
I mean otherwise what's the point of putting up the figures? We're electing someone else to take over in November; we'll have someone new in office in January. Great, we almost all think he's done a lousy job, but because we think it for different reasons in many cases, I don't think it means very much.
It surprises me that Carter wasn't even lower right at the end of his term as the Iran Hostage situation dragged on and Reagan soared in popularity. But I guess that Carter didn't make as many people who identified as members of his own party as angry as Bush does.
I think Bush has just managed to do a little something to make almost everyone regard him as incompetent.
I don't think he's our worst President ever, by any stretch. But I wouldn't say he's done a particular good job.
ETA: why were people so mad at Truman in 1952?
