YES, the popped collar polos were very big in the 80's especially in the Northeast as well as Ocean Pacific (OP) clothing, PCH clothing, the colorful jam shorts, bright neon shirts, and forgot the two-tune guess jeans.

Ohhhh, JAMS! I'd almost forgotten about those. And for girls, we had to match the rubber Madonna-bangle bracelets on our wrist with the colors in the shorts...
Saw another guy with a popped collar last night at a Starbucks, took everything in me not to go over and flip it down for him.

And let us not forget the black and white high-top reeboks, open of coarse.

I'm 6'2" and my shorts are usually around 6 - 7" inseams. I really can't rock the 5", just way too short for my size.

I just talked to some of my friends that are Alabama Phi Gams, their Islander went extremely well.
Ours was absolute madness, PhiGam, ill pm you some pictures... We had 3 waterfalls, a huge beach, tiki hut, and about 100 square yards of our backyard fenced in with 10 ft. high bamboo......

NAACP ULTRAFAN-
I am a huge fan of the Rocky Top song! Never heard it until I was in NC, and then wanted it played everywhere!!! We were in Pat O's and I made them play Rocky Top and had to dodge being killed by all the LSU peeps there. Great song-love it!!

Some friends and I did the same thing this past year, tipped $50 for them to play "Yellow Rose of Texas", "Eyes of Texas", and "If you're gonna play in Texas" all in a row. By the the third song everyone in the bar was ready to kill us.

I wish I would have taken some pics of the setup of the Bama Islander. Their ice luges were in the shape of diamonds with a star in the middle. Touring their house was a really cool experience as well.
Definitely send me those pictures though, I can PM you my email address or my name for facebook, whatever's easier.

I may be a little late but talking about the whole split between Ole Miss and MSU thing but... State and Ole Miss have very different greek systems. I have a lot of friends that go to State (girls and guys) and they constantly talk about the big 2 (fraternity wise) Sigma Chi and Kappa Sig. I've been to MSU a lot and I know there are other good fraternities but those are the largest and most well respected on campus and frankly the only 2 that even come close to the size of some of the Ole Miss fraternities (still 100 or so members below the largest at Ole Miss). Ole Miss has a more diverse greek system with arguably a top 5 or 6 fraternities and greek life is a much bigger deal at Ole Miss. This can be said to go back to the "elitist" attitude at Ole Miss, but our greek system is much stronger than that of Mississippi State

I think the Ole Miss tailgating is tame and slightly overrated.
EDIT: After I typed it I realized why it was so boring. It was a 12:30 game, so there were very few students tailgating, and everyone knew they were going to lose.
