Wierdo.
~~~~~
I was driving around last night and was tortured by seeing 4 DDs about 5 minutes from one another. There's only one KK and it's about 10 minutes away and has the oven and glass window thingie. It made me think of this thread and wonder why there's only one KK.  Then I remembered that we only need one KK. All of those DDs are because DD has to try so hard---and they need to be located in commuter areas so people can get coffee and breakfast sandwiches--not donuts.
Hey Kevin, can we get another poll started? This one is boring. Can you start one called Chitlins, Collard Greens and fatback, or other?
We had a Krispy Kreme in my area but it went out of business; I have yet to try one of their doughnuts. According to the Krispy Kreme website the closest Krispy Kreme is 163 miles away in Austin.
When I was a kid we would always stop at Dunkin’ Doughnuts on our way to Wisconsin. I have never understood the appeal. I only know of one Dunkin’ Doughnuts in all of Houston but I’ve never been.
So I voted "Other" and I'd also like to cast my vote for Fatback.
In Houston I would say it is Shipley’s Do-Nuts that reign supreme (86 locations). Their pretty much the go to place for doughnuts. I have one right down the block from my house and after I make it home from a late night I can smell them cooking doughnuts from my driveway. I hardly ever eat doughnuts but on the rare occasion that I do it’s Shipley’s
When it comes to breakfast food it's all about Klobasneks aka Kolaches.
/edit: Oh yeah if you are ever in the Clear Lake area Morning Kolaches is the place to go.
Shipleys is good stuff. That's crazy that there isn't a KK in Houston or around it.
Exactly. And the reality is, I hate cake doughnuts of any variety.
It's been a while since you asked, but I thought I'd post this just in case someone else wonders:
