It is difficult to get a bid as a Junior at Vanderbilt. If you are technically a sophomore, that will be better, but still very challenging. However, recruitment is deferred, so you have a semester to get to know sorority women. Recruitment is very "southern" there (frills, tough cuts, etc.), but being from the north will not hinder you at all.

My advice is to have an amazing gpa and glowing recs, then befriend a ton of sorority women when you arrive. There are also a lot of other things to be involved with if that doesn't work out. Good luck!
