For the record: "Ours" is already possessive.

Unfortunately, my school is on JC... it is disgusting and downright pathetic what some people will write about others, even people they don't know.

Even Clark Howard, the Atlanta consumer guy, mentioned it yesterday saying how horrible it is. If you have something to say about someone, post your real name so you can be held accountable if its found to be a lie.

I already commented on what my alma mater is doing about JC on the other thread linked to above, but actually some Internet advocates and lawyers are working on a case against Juicy Campus, because they claim that the site is NOT really anonymous as advertised. You can read more about it at http://graphic.pepperdine.edu/news/2...2-21-juicy.htm
A student at Loyola Marymount was arrested for making threats on JC, and supposedly there was also a suicide attempt at LMU based on info shared on the site.

That's why I'm surprised people still feel confident enough to talk so much trash on there. I would be very hurt if people called me out by name and said hateful things on there. I hope it gets taken down, though. Maybe once the site gets sued-it will fall back on the people who posted and they can get what is coming to them. I think I have heard about Daily Jolt (which some stuff said there was mean too-if I remember correctly).
When will people start being "nice" to each other instead of bashing them online? When I read that juicycampus website it made me think of that teenage girl who committed suicide over an instant messaging/ myspace prank by a neighbor girl and her mother. Some people really take that stuff to heart. It would be nice if everyone had a thick skin but, we have to remember that may not always be the case.

So in other words, they could end up going down because of false advertising, not because of what people say on the site - kind of like Al Capone finally going to jail because of tax evasion?

Juicy Campus was started by a Duke graduate. Way to make the alumni proud...

Yeah, I guess. It's obviously not anonymous; any IP address can be tracked, and they identified the guy who made threats based on that type of information. If it was necessary, they could at least pinpoint the computer that was used to post.

It now appears that the entire state of New Jersey is now investigating JuicyCampus: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23705921/
Excerpt: Wed., March. 19, 2008 TRENTON, N.J. - New Jersey prosecutors subpoenaed records of JuicyCampus.com, a Web site that publishes anonymous, often malicious gossip about college students....
...JuicyCampus may be violating the state's Consumer Fraud Act by suggesting that it doesn't allow offensive material but providing no enforcement of that rule — and no way for users to report or dispute the material, New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram said Tuesday.

Freedom of speech does not apply in this situation.

JC is ridiculous. A very close friend of mine is currently under attack. It has become a painful experience. Who in their right mind would think this would be fun. I knew before it became personal that it was a nasty site, but now, its a shameful way to hurt people. It makes me so angry that people would get entertainment by hurting people they don't even know. I guess thats a testament to society these days...sad...I know.

^^^I went onto the website for the first time last week and was appalled at how nasty the posters were. It didn't matter who or what they were bashing, it was downright awful.
I'm ashamed to say my alma mater was on there and I was embarrassed to have attended the same school as some of the site visitors

There was an article in last week's People magazine about JuicyCampus.

I just saw that site, it's horrible and should be removed.
