I swear I've posted this before somewhere but...

When I was in middle school we had a substitute teacher named Mr. Seaman. Richard Seaman at that. But Richard didn't go by Richard...he went by Dick.

Moral of the story: If your name is Seaman, don't name your child Richard. If your name is Richard Seaman...you don't go by Dick!

Another fun few:
Clients of one of my colleagues: Lexus, Porsche, and Benz

I also have a client who has a sister named Monee (pronounced Mo-NAY) If you're from IL (which we are)...you'd find it funny--there's a town called Monee (pronounced Mo-KNEE).

The Homecoming Queen (KD) when I was at Mississippi State was named Ida Cline.

I once met a girl named Summer Winter Camp. Also, a colleague has a niece named Anna Mull--they didn't think about how the name sounded until she was almost in school!

And of course, many Pi Phis know of our famous Ima Hogg (philanthropist and Texas governor's daughter). And before anyone asks, it's only an urban legend that she had a twin named Ura!

i heard a woman calling her three little boys,"dallas, austin, houston, come on, it is time to go."

always wondered if the family was just proud of their texas heritage, wished they were texans or the boys were named after the places they were conceived?

My grandma's sister-in-law (Aloha - pronounced Alo-a) gave birth to my mom's cousin (who has a normal name) but in the other bed in the room with her was a woman who couldn't name her baby girl. This was back when you could stay in the hospital for a week after a normal birth. Anyhow, said roomate still couldn't come up with a name for her baby by the time she left, so the hospital staff on the birth certificate had to put "FEMALE" as the first name and then whatever the woman's last name was. The woman took one look at the BC and said, (according to my Aunt Aloha) "Female, (pron Fem-alie) I like that!"

So, consequently my mom's cousins had a cat named Female growing up.

Let's not get too into the bad names discussion, I could regale you all with tales of my students' names. I've been teaching 7 years now...there's always at least one bad name per year. I even had a student get prego and then name her daughter, (yep you guessed it) Alizee.

DUMB.

Oh yeah, ETA, my mom works in sales and had a client for the longest time from Thailand or Burma...anyhow name was Phat Bui....yeah, "fat boy", that was funny when I was 12. She also had a teacher in school named Mr. Glasscock...god, what a horrible name.

I also had a friend who took German in HS. There was a sub one day with the last name Ball. He told the students just to call him by his first name...(in German, Mr. is Herr (pron. Hair)...Herr Ball. heheh

One of my mom's friends is a teacher at an elementary school, and she had a girl in her class named "Va-GEE-na"...sadly, it wasn't spelled the way it was pronounced.

I haven't read all the posts here, so forgive me if I'm repeating...I've always been grossed out/amused by the NASCAR driver Dick Trickle's name.

ESPN's "Mike & Mike In the Morning" show reported a set of twin boys born in Florida named "Brett" and "Favre".

i was watching that while i was getting ready this morning *it comes on espn 2* and i was like WTF ... that's taking somebody's fandom a little too far ... i feel bad for the kid name favre not the kid named brett

they said something about all the weird celebrity names too ... apple, project inspektor, all of those ... but they said that the beckhams' kids names were weird and they're not as weird as say apple brooklyn, cruz, and something else ......

but i love mike and mike they're hilarious
