Since most of the sororities are in the one dorm, and two weren't, the ones in a house would justify it by saying that "there are still expenses during the summer", which, of course, is true. It's just that it really should have been figured into the same 8-month formula as the other GLOs.
And yes, the trimester bit. Lots of times, the sororities & the fraternities with independent houses would rent out in the summer to make some extra money. Living in one of those during the summer was part of the whole experience.
