He did the right thing.

You think he did the right thing to say "definitely" to the "accusation" versus his first response (which was much more intelligent) where he said his wife would be his equal?

A wife is equal to her husband... no denial on this side. I plan to treat my wife as my equal regardless of whether or not she has a career or stays at home. I'm old fashioned in many respects but I view men as women as equals. I'm just not sure where Benzy gets off saying that I'll be a wife beater when I have made very clear that I have the utmost respect for women.

It was an unfounded cheap shot. She doesn't like the poster named PhiGam and thought it would be great to reference wife beating. I haven't seen such comments made to others who have jokingly seriously posted about how they would hypothetically have a pledge run errands. How you feel about women and will treat your future wife doesn't need to be stated.

He also doesn't need to live down to the expectation. I'm glad he re-posted and clarified, he did himself much more justice with the more thoughtful and intelligent response rather than just jumping on the bait.

Is it bad that I check this thread sometimes just to see how far away from the op it has gone? It's always interesting.

Reason #2 of why he shouldn't have bothered explaining.

I don't much like the term sorostitute, but I'm afraid it's almost so standard as slang on some campuses for any sorority woman that I'm not sure that alone means much about someone's individual attitude towards woman.
