Two weeks before my wedding, we found out the restaurant that we had reserved for the rehearsal dinner was closed because it was BANKRUPT and OUT OF BUSINESS!!! I was having a destination wedding and everything was being planned long-distance. My mother and wedding planner scrambled, but managed to find a very nice restaurant on short notice that hosted the rehearsal dinner.
The night before the wedding, my mother was steaming and ironing my veil. Unfortunately, she burned a hole in the veil. She was able to hide it

My sisters wedding:
~ Photographers showed up late so that there was no time to do family pics
~ My sisters best friend #2 brought her baby (it was said that no babies were allowed because of the open bar)
~ Issues with the car service
~ Her best friends car was broken into the day of the wedding and stole a bunch of stuff and we had the cops at our door dealing with that
~ Her hair came out and had to be re-done
My only other issue was I didn't like the Rabbi at all.
All in all not horrible I guess

One of my sorority sisters had a tough reception, but they handled it perfectly! There was a huge storm between her ceremony and reception and the reception hall lost power! So, there was no power at all and it was a really warm summer day. The storm had passed and it was perfectly clear outside so they worked with the reception hall and moved it into the parking lot of the hall! They brought out huge barbecues and cooked on those. Someone brought their RV to the parking lot and they used the generator on it to hook up the DJs equipment and danced in the parking lot. She was a really good sport and just said "Nobody is going to forget MY wedding, are they???"
After my first one, when I got so upset over minor stuff and ruined my own party, really, I always tell brides that the only thing that matters that day is that they end up married by the end of the day.
My friends' sister had a really rough one, but they also made the most of it. Her father had brain cancer but was able to come to the ceremony. However, he passed out during the ceremony and had to be hospitalized. After things calmed down and he was conscious again, the priest married them in his hospital room, just like in a movie. It was more important to her that her dad be present for her wedding than anything else, so she got her wish.

when we were on a tour for our venue, our coordinator told us that they have a back up generator so we won't have to worry about losing power. she said she had never thought of asking that until her son was getting married. i wonder if they attended a wedding that lost power.

Last summer, I went to a friend's wedding. There was a thunderstorm parked pretty much on top of the hall. So it was POURING, and anyone unlucky enough to have forgotten an umbrella got soaked to the skin walking from their cars to the entrance. The ceremony was to be held outside - obviously, we relocated inside.
At the ceremony, the rabbi started talking about how this wedding was taking place in the presence of the couple's families, their friends, and God - well, as soon as he said "God" there was an enormous thunderclap! We all burst out laughing at the timing, and the rabbi said something like, "Yup, He's making His presence felt, all right."
A few minutes later, a very noisy A/C unit kicked on, and the staff couldn't figure out how to disable it, so it was very hard to hear the rest of the ceremony.
Meh, they're just as married.

This reminds me, when our chaplain was blessing our marriage, he said something about God approving of our marriage, and then cows started mooing (we got married on a plantation, and there is a farm across the street). We guess the cows blessed us, too. It's hilarious in the video.
The best part was the sun coming out and shining on us when he announced us as husband and wife. The only sun during the whole ceremony

My wedding had a couple of minor hiccups.
--We had four carloads of people leave my house to go to wedding. No one remembered to bring my aunt (who is developmentally delayed) to the ceremony. Everyone assumed that my aunt was with my mom. It wasn't until we got to the church (a good 20 minutes away) that we realized my aunt was back at the house. My mom had to turn around and go get her. This turned out to be a good thing because....
--One of my flowergirl's family got lost and wound up being 20 minutes late. I learned later that she had a major melt down in the car, screaming that she got all dressed up for nothing, and threatening her father with all kinds of mayhem if she missed out on the wedding.
--Our photographer never showed, despite signed contract and cashed deposit. Luckily, I have 4 brothers and they all love photography, so I used them instead. After threats from the law firm I work for, the no-show photo guy return my deposit, with interest.
--One of my bridesmaids dropped out 2 - count 'em 2 - weeks before the wedding. I just had my most friendly bridesmaid walk down with 2 groomsmen. She was happy, they were happy, and I wound up with a nice pearl necklace and matching earrings.
Other than that, it was a beautiful day. The flowers were beautiful, the dj exceptional, food was great, and everyone got along very well, Could not have asked for a more perfect experience.

Did she show up to the wedding as a guest?
This happened to my aunt on wedding #2. The bridesmaid who dropped out was her future step-daughter. So I jumped in and had her size 12 dress taken in for my size 4 body. I was going to the wedding anyway, so this made my choice of dresses easier.

Camcorder ran out of batteries RIGHT as we were about to begin our vows. That's kind of okay though, for me. I prefer those memories through my own eyes (looking at Mr. Skylark) rather than through a camera where I will be criticizing how my arm-fat and ass looked, thus destroying the moment in my mind. Actually, I didn't really want a camcorder there at all but it was a request from my MIL that I really felt bad refusing to.

My veil (which was just attached via a comb) fell off as my husband and I were walking down the aisle together. Whatever. I didn't even notice. It didn't even hit the floor I'm told, my mom had awesome reflexes and grabbed it. Way to go mommmy!!
Not really wrong but the light from the videographer's camera was really bright and in our faces during the ceremony. I wished we had talked with them more before the ceremony, it was SO annoying.
I have to say, it was a pretty good day since I don't remember much of anything that went wrong!
OMG I forgot - a cell phone went off! The minister rolled with it, made a joke about God approving and we all had a good laugh. I later found out it was my assistant principal's phone. He's attached to that thing! I've made it clear he owes me from here on out!

1. When I had gotten to the church apparently there had been a break down in communication between the priest and I. My husband and the groomsmen were getting dressed in the area that I was supposed to get dressed in. I had to wait in the limo for them to get done and move to a different location so he wouldn't see me.
2. In my haste, I left the programs and flower girl baskets in my CAR at the hotel. My Brother-in-law who had a shiny new corvette did break neck speeds to drive back to the hotel to get the stuff from my trunk and speed back to the church.
3. My photographer left before the wedding is over, so we have no pictures after us dancing. After the fact, he ripped us off, we have an album of pictures and no enlargements after he was already paid in full.
Looking back, none of those things are major except the pictures. Other than that, we had a great day.

EB - sorry about the photographer, that was something I was super scared about since we had our wedding overseas. Thankfully he was great...but still, yours? no blown up photos? what a jerk!
Let's see, anything major for mine? Well it was major to me,
-The restaurant where we were to have the reception closed and didn't bother to call and tell me. I found out by calling one day and it was their last day open after their two week vacation - the manager said, oh we might be reopened by then. Thankfully we hadn't given a deposit, and I had a few months to plan, but I stressed to no end considering that I had never seen any of the places where we got married, including the church.
-My sister was freezing cold and refused to take off her jacket for most of the photos, except the ones in the church and at the reception. Her feet were cold in the shoes she decided to wear so she wore her UGGs.....yes, that's right...UGGs. Thankfully she had a long dress and we only had 19 guests total.
-The cake was lopsided and super dry. I'm talking drier than any cake in the history of cakes I have ever had.
I think that is it. Short list...I still had a blast and would do it all again just the same...even the dry cake.

No he never gave us the enlargements. He played the "contract" game for over a year. It goes something like this:
Me: Can we meet to discuss enlargements
Him: Ok, bring the pictures you would like enlarged and the contract...I forgot how many enlargements I owe you !!!!!
Me: 1 month later...are the pictures ready?
Him: I'm working on something special
Me: 2 months later...are the pictures ready
Him: You never told me how many pictures I owe you, could you send me the contract
Me: I've already given it to you, but I'll fax it again today
Him: I never got it
Mom and dad call: Where are our daughter's pictures
Him: She never sent me the contract
Me: Don't play these silly a** games with me! If you lost my d*mn pictures or spent the money, then say so and stop wasting my f*ckin' time!!!
To be continued......
