My goddaughter is in North Carolina and for the past few years I have been spoiling her with Vera bags for Christmas and her birthday (she just turned 15 yesterday)

VB is big in North Carolina (she is in Winston-Salem)

north carolina

as many people have said, VB is big in North Carolina. At the school I go to in NC, VB is pretty popular, amongst all students. However, with Greeks it is a little different. It is popular among some Greeks, but many sorority girls who are in the some of the top tier sororities, debutantes, or bred for sororities, etc, wouldn't be caught dead with VB. Instead, they carry Longchamp totes, Herve Chapelier bags, Vineyard Vine totes, etc. It is interesting how it is different.

ditto

I think I remember seeing them somewhere over the years. I just thought people were making ugly bags from ugly quilts. I had no idea VB has been making ugly stuff for 20 years.

I go to a school in the SEC and it seems to be the fashion for sorority women. Of course next year there will be a totally different fashion coming in!

My mom hates most of my Vera bags...she calls them my "flower babies" She lives in Virginia Beach and Vera is pretty big there
Vera is not as popular out here in the Bay Area. I think the bookstores at Cal Berkeley and Stanford are Vera sellers.

I don't know about the University of the Pacific --they have a huge store that sells Vera a couple of miles up the road

Vera is not big here, at least not with sorority women. The more popular label is Vineyard Vines, especially custom, chapter-specific designs.

I'm an old person (over 40) and use Vera's bag to help me stay organized but it suprised the heck out of me when I started seeing all these college (and high school around here) girls carrying VB bags in the last couple of years. My dd won't go near them, probably because she sees it a "mom" purse!

I've seen a handful around campus, but this is the kind of campus where people couldn't care less what brand (or not) your handbag might be. You generally don't tend to see any brand name handbags being carried around (if in fact, people really carry around handbags, because many don't on a daily basis). I personally don't find VB stuff at all attractive, but that's me.

ETA: I'm in CT. The only place I've ever seen VB stuff outside the few isolated sightings on campus are at the airport.

I grew up in Maryland, and I will say that Vera was huge at my prep school. I was always more of a longchamp type, but I've got a few Vera accessories.

Here at Syracuse, they do sell Vera in the Bookstore and on Marshall Street. Its big...but most sorority women carry funkier designer purses...this campus is full of New Jersey and Long Island girls, and its more designer label with them. Its funny...my mom, who is non-Greek, would rather me carry a my Marc by Marc Jacobs than any Vera. She thinks they are old lady bags. But then again, she is a long islander.
