I think one of the comments to the article says it best. It's an ongoing investigation and by going public like this the media is going to unfairly influence it. Until then, they're publishing hearsay, gossip, and most likely, slander.

I find it irresponsible to report possible hazing when this investigation is currently underway. This station knows full and well that this report will prompt parents to contact the University and pressure them to take action, especially when it could influence the investigation and their decision. I personally know many of these young men and they are gentlemen who do many good things in this community, such as hosting Pike's Presents and other Philanthropic events. If these men are punished because of pressure from the community rather than actual fault, it is a shame that you should have to answer to. Please do not publish a story on your station if it could harm these young men while still presumed innocent, especially if you are not going to discuss any of the good they have done for our community as well.
