That too! It's why I detect a lean from the UA collegiates toward one of the sororities presenting.

From an SEC perspective, to me DG seems missing from Alabama in a way, and the other groups would more be trail blazing but not expected.
Alphi Xi is at Auburn, so it ought to have some recognition in state.
And I would love to see Alpha Phi have some chapters in the SEC, but I'm not sure they have any.
I'd really love to see Alphi Phi at UGA particularly so we'd have the Syracuse Triad and maybe a fun new social event. They can do that at Bama too.

I definitely get the idea from my sister (a freshman at Bama) that the girls in her group and some friends from others are "expecting" one of the groups to be chosen. And I definitely think it has to do with name recognition.
But just because that's what they expect doesn't mean that's what will happen...

As a freshman at the University of Alabama I can tell you that many chapters here earlier in the year had to vote on the acceptance of Delta Gamma to be allowed back on campus and am happy to say that it was unanimously approved. Alabama is in need for a new sorority to come onto to campus with the astounding numbers of girls that have decided to rush the past 2 years. I believe it may take a few years for DG to get the number of new members that other sororities have on campus but I think in time there chapter will thrive, especially with over 400 girls last fall not receiving a bid from any sorority.

If the "many chapters" there already unanimously voted to allow DG back, why even bother have them present tomorrow?

DG has not been selected. The vote you are talking about was UA voting to open for expansion. NO sorority has been selected yet. It gets really old explaining over and over and over and over and over that DG has not been chosen and may not ever be chosen to come to UA. I am not saying that they won't be, but they definitely haven't been yet. After the chapters vote later this month on which sororities they would to have on campus, maybe that pesky little DG rumor will stop spreading around campus. By then it will either be really happening or not.

LOL! I read that post and said " Wait a minute..." Just a little confusion regarding which vote that actually was earlier in the year. I have heard (and corrected) that story from other collegians too. It makes me wonder if their delegates explained the process well enough to their members.

It's easy to see how the average member of a current chapter at Alabama might get confused about the process.
Interestingly, when I looked up, just on Wikipedia, to see where Alpha Phi had chapters, there's a list which includes an active chapter at the University of Alabama. (I know it's wikipedia, and not official, but rumors are probably going to be hard to stifle about any of the groups.)
I'd just hate for any group presenting to feel slighted or like minds were already made up.
