I joined to understand the Greek community and perhaps contribute in a positive sense but these ignorant responses have me questioning my judgement.

You already DA'd, what's there to question? Look, you came on GREEKchat, so obviously we're all here because either we are Greek or we have a respect for Greekdom. So, you came to the wrong place for people to tell you, yeah I joined and now I don't like being Greek. This is NOT the place where you're going to find that answer. We're all fine with what FB has to offer Greeks, we all like being Greek and we like to chat with others who feel the same way.
