Ooohhhh....I'm good at this one!

Sometimes you just need a little time off, I can really sympathize with that. Now, I have never given the excuse of someone being dead, because that's nothing to play with. Here are mine:

1. I have kids, so I can always get away with saying that one of my kids is ill. I can use that excuse to either come in late, leave early, or not come to work at all. That's usually my favorite. It would probably only backfire on me if I had called in and given that excuse and then been hanging out all day and my kids' school calls the job looking for me to say that one of them is sick. Luckily that's never happened, but I've always worried that it would.

2. I'm sick. If you're sick, you're sick. That's what sick time is for. But you've got to play it off well. Don't say you have a cold if you can't make it sound like you do. Go for cramps or something physical. And if you're going to use the cramps excuse, remember the date that you gave that excuse and don't turn around and use that same one again 2 weeks later. Anyone can figure that you aren't have that visit from "Aunt Flow" twice in one month..and if so, you really need to seek medical attention.

3. Car trouble.

4. Been in a car accident. (But you have to say that there wasn't any damage to your own car...otherwise, you may get busted out)

5. I had this supervisor once that I just plain ole hated. I used to give her excuses all the time. I remember one time I took a 3 hour lunch break and when I came back I told her that I was driving down the street and saw this little old lady who had fallen on the sidewalk. I said that the lady was really scared and so I called for help and stayed with her until the paramedics arrived. It worked.
