I work with a customer in south Texas and my team was on-site. A co-worker was from India and he was Hindu and vegetarian. We were at a generic restaurant which was, by virtue of being in Texas, a steakhouse. He politely asked the waitress whether they had any vegetarian options. She looked confused for a moment, then said, "Oh, y'all mean like chicken?"
Thus was born the Texas Vegetarian.

I recycled this post from another thread, but I feel that 'tis a good one:
Well, no matter what happens, if any of you practice "vegetarianism", please don't go around saying "I'm a vegetarian, I only eat chicken and fish" as those are animals.
KTHXBYE.

Oh, I hear that! When I tell people that I don't eat beef but do eat poultry and seafood, most look at me with a confused look upon their face and ask, "so you're a vegetarian?" Umm, no. Let's try this again....

I am participating in a spiritual fast and am only eating fruits and veggies for 21 days. So I guess you can say I am somewhat a vegeterian right now. lol I just finished my first week and it has been great although I don't think I can do this forever. The biggest issue I have had has been with the bloating and gas, but let me tell you, prayer works!
I have been traveling quite a bit for work and have done pretty good with making sure I get enough to eat each day. It can be a challenge though. It is amazing though that so many salads in resturants have meat on them and how few truly vegeterian options there are out there.
Last night I went to Chili's and had a black bean veggie burger (I skipped the bun, nothing processed for me right now) with lettuce and tomatoes, grilled onions, peppers and mushrooms, and steamed mixed veggies no butter last night. The black bean burger was delish! I had a veggie burger from Ruby Tuesday's on Friday and it was not as good.
I do like veggies so I have found if all else fails I can do just a plate of sides. I have not been fanatical about it, but I do have to spend extra time asking how something is prepared.

I love Chili's black bean burger! I also agree with you about RT's. Yuck.
