It wouldn't be different for me. I don't dislike George Bush Sr. and I'm not a fan of Bill Clinton.

He's not getting a pass from me so much as I'm saying I can understand being exhausted. It happens. The problem is that he's a public figure who was in the pulpit during an "important" speech so he should've done better. I'm just not interpreting his nodding off as meaning that he's disinterested in the much larger cause.
