Baylor opinion? Yay, but no white for winter. And nay on any day past the sorta casualish first rounds.
That's a cute outfit, though...good luck!

Not a fan of the outfit, personally. Some people may like, but some people may have a strong dislike of it. Plus, like was mentioned above, if its something you're not sure is appropriate, you're going to be paranoid about it.
Also, consider the length of your skirt. Don't want to be flashing anyone.

honest opinion: in your photo, i thought your boots looked like majorette boots from days of old. if you are planning on wearing that dress(which is cute-and i like the accessories) i think that strappy sandals (flat or heeled) would be most flattering.
wearing the boots will be a gamble, even in texas. i think someone else said something similar in an earlier post, and i paraphrase: it could be good of bad. you could either be known as the girl in the cute boots( a plus) or as "boot girl",(a negative).

Thank you, Breathesgelatin. That's exactly what I was trying to say. It doesn't matter how cute an outfit is, if it's not a great look for rush at a particular school, then you should really reconsider wearing it. I was born in Texas. I live in Texas. I go to school in Texas. I have dozens of friends and family members in the Greek systems in all the big Texas schools, and many at Tech. I know what rush is like at these schools. Sure, anyone could give their opinion about what to wear for rush, but if you aren't familiar with a school's culture, you can be steering a PMN in the wrong direction. It's not about whether or not a look is cute, it's about whether it's appropriate for a particular situation. We're not the SEC here, but we're pretty danged southern and traditional.
In the end, it's up to the PNM to decide what she wants to wear. But since she's asking for opinions, I think it's a positive thing that she gets some from people who actually know what her campus is like.

You're welcome! LOL.
And agreed on all points.
Let me just re-emphasize to the OP one more time: GIRL! It's been like 30 degrees here! You should wear something warmer and seasonal!

I vote no boots for rush (even though they look ADORABLE in your outfit). I cosign with FSUZeta and think sandals....paired with an incredible pedicure, of course!

I'm from Texas and I would say that as long as it is in the first round and you can pull it off. I think it looks really cute and know a lot of girls that look fabulous. As for me, I could not pull off that look to save my life and I raised cows my whole life.

 That's cute, cuteASAbug!
I don't get the whole cowboy boot and dress thing. I went to a bunch of games at UT this fall and that is "the" look with the girls (the dresses are hideous shades of burnt orange too - a shirt yes, but a jersey, clingy dress - NO). Some girls looked cuter than others, but across the board, it is a hard look to pull off because of how it cuts you in pieces. If a girl is tall and slim, it's easier to look cute, but short girls looked unfortunate to me. (TMO)
But, maybe I'm just old and out of touch! We wore button up the back shirts with cumberbunds, and big hair and makeup, when I was in college, so who am I to judge fashion!!

LOL so true!!! Many unfortunate women making these style choices for UT football games! I personally usually wear a jean skirt with a UT shirt, but I know for undergrad Greeks it's customary to dress up a bit more. I don't know why the jersey dresses are so popular though--I've seen some cuter dresses at the Co-op and other places that look like a million times better than those jersey things. I think the boots are on their way out though... although I can understand that they're way more comfortable than heels...
At my school Lily Pulitzer was de rigeur for football games, so go figure.

Sorry didn't mean to be mean. Maybe Jessica Simpson shoes are just around here. They have really high heels. Short young people, which doesn't not describe me wear them. They are not cheap.

No no no no no---
I can speak only for UT, and there not as an advisor or anything and only really from what I observe sorority girls wearing on campus here and my alumnae friends from Texas schools here in Austin. But no! no no no.
It's true that girls at UT and I'm sure at Tech too wear this look for football games and things like that but recruitment is different than those... Those are really ultra-casual and even first rounds is a different deal. I actually don't think that outfit is heinous but I wouldn't wear it for recruitment. Honestly I also agree that that dress is too summery for right now... I don't know if it's been as cold in Lubbock as it has been here but GIRL! don't freeze yourself!
Good luck with everything. I went up to Lubbock for Thanksgiving and got to see the Tech campus. It's so pretty!
