Myrtle Beach- Community Local?

I've thought about trying to found something at my school, but I remember someone trying before and it not working out. The only thing that has stayed around is the business fraternity. There's another reason I'd really like to try to go the community route. There are two schools here in the area, a tech school and a four year university. As far as the numbers go, I think getting a chapter together might work a little better if I were pulling from two schools and the surrounding area.

Xidelt- Maybe you have a point about ESA. I mean, isn't that why so many girls shy away from it?

Well a real concern with community colleges and technical schools regarding Greek life is that 2 years is not a lot of time to establish a foundation for a social club; so continuity tends to be an issue. My sorority has a separate network for chapters that are not based at 4-year schools (we call them "affiliate chapters") and the focus is on accomplishments to get initiated and community service (as far as national requirements). This is almost similar to an honor or special-purpose greek organization. That being said though, quite a few of these chapters go inactive and sisters move to participating on an alumna level. Not really a bad thing...but it's not really what the National organization has in mind (or hopes) when they issue a chapter charter (yet we accept that it happens)
