I don't know why, but lately I've been thinking about our part in the Dove campaign. I want to think the best - that we want to celebrate all kinds of beauty, not just what the media tells us is beautiful. But I just can't shake the feeling that it's nothing more than a big business deal. We're just helping (directly or indirectly, I don't know) sell more Dove products. The cynic in me has made me sad about this. Maybe someone who knows more about this can shine some light and make me feel better about it. Regardless of the details here, it's still a good message...
I've talked a lot about the Dove campaign over the past year, so I can give a bit more information.

While we are bringing more attention to Dove products, our involvement is not directly targeted to help increase sales.

With the Uniquely Me program, Dove has teamed up with Girl Scouts to develop different programs that discuss body image, healthy eating, peer pressure, etc. KD's can work the programs into their Girl Scout involvement.

I've also been to a Stand Up Stand Out program that brought in one of the Dove models to discuss body image among the sorority women of that campus.

The reason I love our involvement with Dove is that it really can be related to any woman of any age. If your target is older women, an alumnae chapter could easily put together a program with the materials from the CFRB.

So, where I could see how our promotion of the DCFRB may help to sell their products, I feel we do more good in terms of helping women.
