Ooh, I forgot about Flyleaf. Reminiscent of Evanescense but not quite...

I don't get into a ton of new stuff, but I do like Feist.
I don't listen to a ton of music, but when I do, it's usually The White Stripes, Jay-Z (Black Album & older), or Maroon 5.

A friend got me hooked on Umphrey's McGee over the summer, and Drive By Truckers. I'm also liking Feist and Imogen Heap. I've also been hitting my parent's jazz collection quite a bit. Thelonius Monk is incredible.

Your friend has good taste. I've got quite a few similar bands that you may like.

Funny enough, Pandora's got under similar artists to Flyleaf: Ashlee Simpson and Kelly Clarkson.
I thought of a couple new ones for me:
Charlotte Martin
Tina Arena
Daniel Rodriguez
Sarah Shannon
Blackmore's Night
Audra McDonald
Katie Todd
Ginny Owens
Giorgia Fumanti
Jimmy Wayne
It's mostly been (female) soloists lately. Oh, and I threw Loreena McKennitt and Culann's Hounds in my mix so I get some strong Irish music as well.

 WTF???
And as I'm listening to Sara Bareilles more, I realize how much she sounds like Tristan Prettyman, not sure who I like more...

Pandora uses things like tonality, instruments used, sonority, genre influence, and rhythmic/melodic motifs to compare artists - not things like fanbase and whether they actually sound alike.

Yep, that's her.

Yeah, I remember reading that when it made my station and some of the things that came up, I was like, next. Whatever, Pandora....

Ritchie Blackmore has been around since the late 60's. His new incarnation is certainly different than Deep Purple. I haven't decided whether I think he is trying to be Led Zepellinish or not. I think he has probably always had this mystical bent but I'm just not sure about it.
Also AF, if you like poppish celtic music, try Clannad. They aren't new per se, but they don't get much airplay here at all. Their sister is Enya the new age singer and she also sings with them sometimes.

I added it to my Pandora station. We'll see what comes up.
My main Pandora station is pretty schizo...the people I listed above, plus:
Frank Sinatra
Ella Fitzgerald
Evanescence
Il Divo
Andrea Bocelli
Natasha Bedingfield
Vienna Teng
Shakira
And some Broadway stuff (Mostly Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Bernadette Peters, Jerry Orbach)
As I was typing, Clannad (In a Lifetime) came on - I like it.
