Welcome Andrew!

Welcome Andrew!

Did the chapter know you were a legacy? I've heard of both situations. My undergraduate chapter had one sibling pledge 3 years after the other so we all knew. OTOH, I also heard of one chapter where chapter didn't know until the legacy's father showed up for initiation.

Yes the whole chapter knew

It's not something I hid from the chapter as I was pledging, my uncle pledged the same chapter as I did It and many of the alumni that pledged when he did all those years ago are still quite active and close to the chapter

Cool

Did he make it there to see you initiate?

No they couldn't make it sadly

My grandfather hasn't associated himself with Alpha Phi Omega for a long time, he pledged over 50 years ago

But we made my uncle our chapter advisor

Thank you for the info. I know that Alpha Phi Omega, unlike some other groups, doesn't have any official meaning in the recruitment process, but it is still interesting to me to hear about those for whom it is true.
