ETA - if someone 'called' Beta and I didn't notice, my apologies.
One fact that I always found interesting about Zeta Tau Alpha is that we officially have two Beta chapters. Richmond Women's College was our first Beta chapter, now called Beta (old). This chapter was actually opperated sub-rosa and unfortunately didn't stay active very long. Our second Beta chapter, now called Beta (new), was opened at Judson College in Marion, Alabama, on March 16, 1905. Unfortunately, this chapter was only active for fourteen years. "Thus both of Zeta's Beta chapters - the short-lived Original Beta and the Judson grouop, upon whom was bestowed the designation of the extinct first Beta chapter - suffered extinction because of administrative disapproval of fraternities." (taken from The History of Zeta Tau Alpha)
