I don't have an opinion on that... it's not matchy-matchy, but I don't think I'd notice that it looked odd or bad...

Oh, and I'll take the khaki colored boots over the legwarmers with that any day...
Add legwarmers to the list of stuff I won't wear.
no one is saying be matchy-matchy, but yeah, the third pic is what i'm talking about. black/white/grey is fine, that makes sense. so does browns/beiges/khakis. but dont go mixing both schemes.

My dad used to do this ALL the time as he's a bit color-blind and my mom always got on his case about it. I think it looks like poo also.

I wear my brown jeans with a black shirt & I have a pair of shoes that are brown/black. I like it -- but perhaps I should rethink?!

I never wore "gauchos" in the 70s-80s and WILL never wear them.

I think it depends on the shade of brown. This can look really chic if it's a cocoa or something like that, but if you're doing the "well the brown is so dark no one will notice it isn't black" thing you need to be flogged.

In my area (back home, not where I am now), people wear black and brown together all the time. It's totally normal and nobody pulls this card on anyone.

I don't really have anything navy, but the brown and black bugs me, too!

-Spaghetti strap tank tops or tube tops with bra straps showing. There is a bra called strapless, people.

-Puffer coats with fur trim around the hood. I would look like an animal.

-Capris with crew socks. It's so tacky. I understand with working out, but with capris that are not build for working out...

-Crocs
-Skirts and/or dresses. I can't find any that flatter me.
-Shorts. I HATE my legs with a passion.
-Those stupid attitude shirts that just won't die.

Anything Ivory (washes me out) and tube tops. I have armpit cleavage and that would just make it worse.

So do you think the whole brown/black & black/navy faux pas extends to accessories? I never wear them together as articles of clothing or with shoes/belts types of accessories, but today I wore a navy suit to work and wasn't sure whether I had to change my stuff from my black purse into a brown one. I'm never quite sure which purse to wear with my navy clothes... I really need to just buy a red work tote or something. I was running late this morning, so I just came to work with my black purse. Should I have changed to the brown one?

I think technically if you want to be a chic fashionista, yes, you should have switched to a brown bag. But if you're just a normal American woman taking your everyday purse to work, I don't think Stacy and Clinton are going to jump out and get on your case. I'm sure there are a fair share of women who switch out the purse they take to work everyday to match their outfit. I personally think it's a waste of time.

Pants with words across my hiney. It is big enough, I do NOT want to draw even more attention too it.

Both of my daughters LOVE their crocs btw
