In Kappa Delta Chi recruitment is different than it is from traditional sororities, we invite anyone who's interested to informationals and hold a rush period. If KDChi is a sisterhood you'd like to be involved in and you meet the academic, community service, events coordinating and fundraising requirements (which are challenging enough to weed out the dedicated leaders from the rest of the pack) then you continue on through the process to become a sister. In our sisterhood there is no checking on parents background, financial standing etc. Our sisterhood is about who you are, what you bring to the table and how you stand out on campus so that you can add to a group of other ladies who want to inspire you to be better.

We also don't feel "rushed" during our process because it gives you plenty of time to get to know the sisters on campus, the organizations founding and values so that you can decide for yourself in a realistic setting if this sorority is for you. It's a pretty huge decision to make if in fact you are going to be a part of it for life.

Prior to joining my sorority, they never checked on my parents' background or financial standing. Whether or not I was able to afford my dues was of concern to them and not anything else. Who my parents are and how much they make was not a determining factor in my invitation to membership.

I understand that you're trying to spread the word about your organization, but please refrain from posting assumptions like the ones above.

Thanks.

And please refrain from derailing threads so you can recruit for your org. I know little to nothing about your organization, but spreading the good word all over message boards isn't the way to promote an organization...

checking of parental background and financial standing is all a myth.

Reality in my case. One chapter called my parents to confirm some of the information that I had provided on my panhellenic registration form, as well as get more info about my family and what my parents did for a living. How do I know this? My dad told me--he had no idea what was going on since he knew nothing about Greek life. Then, in a late round, the sisters who were assigned to me that night "casually" mentioned things like, "Sooooooo, your dad's in the medical field??????"

Mine too but I wasn't really shocked. As Rushees, we had to put the information on the forms. There was a 99.9% chance that the sororities were going to verify it.

I've heard of verifying grades but never parent's incomes.

Yea, dad might be a "doctor" but whose to say that although he looks like a big shot, the practice isn't about to go into bankruptcy.

That's carrying things too far.
