I see your point, and I think you're right. But for the sake of being almost anally-clear (yeah, I'll admit it
), a school cannot revoke or take away a charter; a school revokes or takes away
recognition as an approved student organization. A charter is a document from a national fraternity or sorority establishing a chapter of that national org. (For that reason, I would think that a local would not have a charter, unless it was actually created -- not just recognized -- by the school.) Only the national org can issue the charter, so only the national org can revoke or suspend it.
