To me that statement came off wrong (my interpretation). Why is taualumna so "sure" that L.O.C.K. should "know this" coming from a historically Asian fraternity? In general in her last two statements, imo she seems to be painting Asian/Asian American parents and families as solely interested in status.
In general she still seems to be taking the stance that NPC/IFC/D9 have a monopoly on pride because they are older. And chances are that the "immigrant" family isn't at all aware of any type of GLO, especially not by name, to glean any sort of "pride" from the organization that their child is seeking to join.

Gotcha. I thought she was speaking in terms of how many Asian parents perceive it and was just appealing to L.O.C.K's knowledge base as a member of an Asian fraternity (perhaps having discussed this before, etc.).
Maybe the assumption is that people equate age of the organization with deep rooted racial and ethnic traditions or something.
