Besides the horrific nature of the crime, the thing that really strikes me about this story is the restraint shown by the newspaper in respecting the wishes and privacy of the people involved. It's probably the most responsible, ethical piece of journalism I've seen in many years.

Exactly. Otherwise, it might have said, "Police would not confirm if it was part of a fraternity hazing ritual or if alcohol was involved."
