When charter flights pull into an airport, the airline's responsible for getting clearance allowing the passengers to enter the terminal. I'm not sure if the papers were even filed, but officials at the Oakland terminal were very apologetic and claimed it was a misunderstanding. There's footage of that on the video.
It sucks that they weren't allowed because of some technicality, but these guys have been gone for a year at war...and they still weren't welcome.
Zach (he was commander of the flight) mentioned that he's probably on the TSA's shitlist right now.
