Ok I admit it...I don't know if was *illegal*...but I was hazed.
I was forced to received wonderful gift of a stuff mascot from my big sister. I was forced to read card after card of encouraging words about the wonders of sisterhood. I endured HOURS of fun-filled meetings with fellow sisters working on helping Project Hope (before the days of CMN). Then there was the torture of having to wear our letters in public...
BAAAAAA...
be gone troll

Oh you have no idea....it comes in such insideous ways now.
I have to face the adorable sisterhood shield given to me by my little hanging on my wall each day as I eat my breakfast a constant reminder of the "abuse" I endured
and the sisters on my email list filled my hosptial room with PINK carnations when I had my hysterectomy...can you imagine! Even other greeks helped when Mr Sageofages was stricken 2 years ago with his heart attack, or after Sageofages son #1 had his descent into troubles at Christmas shortly following.
Why oh why did I ever become part of such a world?
I bet you suffered just as greatly...you are just supressing those memories. Let them flow out...and I am sure you will feel so much better!

How did you ever go on after that, Sage? How in the world...
I think you should take your story on the road, and warn people about the dangers of too much cute 'nalia being thrown your way...

You NEED a shoulder to cry on. And if they made you sing "Lion Sleeps Tonight" , let me refer you to therapy.

angelnside...you are so right. We alums of many years are so scared to admit to being hazed or hazing our new members since those ten year old or more offenses would get us kicked right off campus. Puhleeze! Sure, some chapters out there are still doing some underground hazing. The fact that they have to hide what they're doing should fill them with tons of shame!

You do know you're agreeing with a troll right? This thread was only left up for entertainment purposes.

You do realize I was being totally facetious!? I'm making fun of her! How would something that happened to us 10 years ago make a difference now when no one could prove anything and no one would care? That's why it wouldn't matter if we chose to admit that our chapter's hazed. We don't admit to hazing because no hazing happened. We can't be prosecuted for any illegal actions, so why would we worry about lying?

Sageofages....you need to go on Oprah to improve awareness so we can stop the endless cycle of giving!

The Lion Sleeps Toniiiiiiight!
Just an aside - Cracker Barrel has a stuffed lion that does indeed play "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". So anyone needing to inflict torture on an innocent Phi Mu or A D Pi may feel free to gift them with this obvious instrument of hazing.
